On
October 1, 1978 Full Gospel Assembly was founded by Rev. Michael
Bacchus, Pastor Jessica Persaud and Bro. Colin Wronge, under
the direct leading of the Holy Spirit and with a sincere desire
to provide a place of worship for the people of God.
Our first service was held in one of the classrooms at the
Long Island University Campus, the Lord being faithful in
making the facilities available to us. Our prayer meetings
were held in the basement of a Christian friend's home on
East 46th Street, Brooklyn. After a few months we outgrew
the place and had to move to the Y. M. C. A. building on Flatbush
Avenue. The hand of the Lord was good towards us and in 1979
the doors of our church were opened to us. One year later
with the help of the Lord we purchased our church building
for $90,000. Three years later in 1983 we burnt the mortgage.

In
September of 1985, we were privileged to open "Full Gospel
Assembly Christian Academy with an enrollment of six students,
one paid teacher and a volunteer teacher. Today thanks be
to God our present enrollment is 80 and a staff of ten. Our
classes range from Pre-K through 5th grade.
On July 23, 1986, we took our first missionary
trip abroad. A team of approximately 45 members, comprised
of Rev. Michael Bacchus, choir members, technicians, etc.
traveled to Guyana, South America and ministered in the Georgetown
and Linden areas for two weeks. Our Berean Bible Study Center
began in 1989 and we are training men and women for the ministry
as well as leaders for the church and its various ministries.
In July 1991, a team of 40 members, including a majority of
young people along with our pastors ministered in the Island
of Barbados for two weeks. Fifteen years have passed since
the Lord has seen it fit to raise up our Assembly as a lighthouse
in this community and we are thankful for being laborers together
with Him. Our Pastors, Michael Bacchus and Jessica Persaud
have striven at all times to preach Christ and Him crucified,
believing that when Christ is lifted up, He will draw all
men unto Himself and God has honored their faith by adding
many to the Assembly.Due to our expanding need and growth
of our congregation which is at capacity, we have purchased
a piece of land on Sullivan Place, Brooklyn. We built a new
sanctuary to better meet the needs of the Crown heights area
and, more specifically, the Ebbets Field Complex. It is our
aim to fully convert the building at 836 Franklin Avenue into
a specialized Educational institution, ultimately providing
a better learning environment for both the Academy and the
Bible School. |
